When did your mother get her menopause? Here's why it is important

When does a person's reproductive age end? Getting this information can be extremely useful, as it can help determine when a person needs to seek treatment, if any, manage their mental health with proper awareness, and fill any gaps in their nutritional intake. However, how can someone's menopause period be predicted? Recently, celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar said that a person's mother's menopause age is a key indicator of the same. "Your mom would have experienced it during your teenage, 20s or 30s. You must know about her all-important hormonal milestone - menopause. Create a safe space for her to share her experience," says Rujuta. There are also a few other factors that determine the approximate age of your menopause, says the Cleveland Clinic.
Factors that determine menopause age
1) The length of your menstrual cycle
If your cycle average is fewer than 25 days, you are likely to get early menopause, as compared to those with longer cycles.
2) Smoking can result in early menopause as compared to those who don't smoke.
3) Pregnancy and breastfeeding reduce the risk of early menopause, and childlessness can raise the risk.
4) Trauma triggers early menopause.
5) Removal of ovaries, especially both of them, can cause premature menopause.
6) Chemotherapy, various health conditions, radiation therapy and surgeries can cause early menopause.
What is the best age for menopause?
It's better to experience it between the ages of 45 and 58, says Dr Girzhel of the Cleveland Clinic. Premature menopause brings with it the risks of sexual dysfunction, dementia, heart diseases, osteoporosis and anxiety. However, hormone replacement therapy can help lower the risk.
