Howzat? When Gen Z parents warn against seeing or touching their babies

The naming of generations is a relatively recent phenomenon. It started with Gen X (1965-1980), followed by Gen Y or Millennials (1981-1996), Gen Alpha (1997-2012), Gen Z (2010-2024), and now Gen Beta (2025-2039). As times change, so do perspectives, particularly regarding lifestyles and relationships. Now, Gen Z individuals are starting to become parents.
This new generation, which embraces the inevitability of change in all aspects of life, has a unique approach to childcare. A Gen Z woman's rules for her baby's birth have recently gained significant social media attention. On a radio program, this young woman outlined her unconventional rules regarding her baby's birth and care.
She preemptively stated that after the baby's birth, she wants no calls or messages. She doesn't want the baby's birth announced, nor does she want the baby's name or other details revealed. She also explicitly forbade anyone from taking pictures or videos of the baby. Furthermore, she requested that no one touch or kiss the baby for at least two weeks, and that no one visit the baby at the hospital.
A video of the mother discussing these rules has gone viral, sparking numerous comments both supporting and criticizing her stance. Some questioned whether it's right to impose such restrictions, even on family members who might want to see and hold the baby. Others, however, supported her rules, arguing that many people overstep boundaries when it comes to children. Older generations, accustomed to a culture of celebratory visits and well-wishes upon a child's birth, find her statements unusual.
