Saranya set to be the first doctor from her tribal hamlet

Kattappana: Saranya has made her small tribal hamlet in Kerala's Idukki district proud. The teenager is all set to step into medical service. She is the first girl student to get admission to a medical college from the Punnapara settlement in the Kannampadi forest region of Upputhara in the district.
She secured the 23rd rank in the tribal category of the medical entrance examination. She has won the admission to the Palakkad medical college.
She is the only daughter of K N Mohanan and Minimol. She had completed her studies from the Swaraj Zion Public School and the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Kulamavu in Idukki. She secured 90 per cent in her class X board exams, and 88 per cent in Plus-Two.
The MBBS entrance training class conducted by the teachers of the Pala Lumen Study Centre, during her plus-two years, sowed the dreams of a medical practitioner in her.
She got admission to the Palakkad medical college during the first allotment held on Tuesday. This young girl aspires to complete her post graduate degree and do service at her native place.
