Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday from an unexpected and bizarre source, a fake ID impersonating Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The email, sent under the name 'Comrade Pinarayi Vijayan,' claimed that explosives had been planted inside the BSE building, according to news agency ANI.

The message stated that four RDX bombs had been planted in the premises and would detonate at 3 pm. Following this, the police and bomb squad rushed to the scene and conducted a thorough search, but no explosives or suspicious items were found.

Police said that no individual has been identified yet, and an investigation is underway. According to ANI, a case has been registered against an unknown person in connection with the hoax threat.

Interestingly, Pinarayi Vijayan, who had gone to the United States for medical treatment, returned on Monday.
