12-year-old girl raped, beheaded by brothers, uncle in MP

Sagar: A 12-year-old girl, who went missing after school, was later found in fields, beheaded. The incident took place in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh on March 14.

The family had filed a 'missing' complaint with the district police the next day after efforts to find her went in vain. Police were led by the girl's uncle to believe that it was one Chote Patel, with whom the girl's family had a land dispute, who killed her.

The girl's postmortem and medical reports showed that the girl was raped. On questioning the girl's relatives further, police learned that the girl was allegedly taken by one of her brothers to their uncle's place when she was returning home after exams. The uncle and her two brothers allegedly gangraped her and when she threatened to go to the police, her aunt allegedly strangled her. She was beheaded and dumped in the fields later, the police officer said.

“Our two senior officers pieced the stories together and found that the girl was indeed raped and murdered by her brothers and uncle. We have arrested the uncle and one of the brothers”, senior police officer Amit Sanghi told media. He also added that the blood-stained clothes and the murder weapon – a sickle – was also found. Efforts are underway to nab the other brother.
