New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar’s electoral rolls. The final list, published on Tuesday, includes nearly 7.42 crore voters. The exercise, conducted from June 24 to September 30, 2025, removed 65 lakh ineligible names and added 21.53 lakh eligible voters.

The EC said the revision followed Article 326 of the Constitution, ensuring “no eligible voter is left out, and no ineligible person included.” Eligible voters who missed inclusion can apply up to 10 days before the last date for filing nominations. Those dissatisfied with entries can appeal to the District Magistrate or CEO Bihar under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. Physical and digital copies of the final roll have been shared with political parties. Voters can also check their names online at voters.eci.gov.in.

The poll authority will visit Patna on October 4 and 5 to review election preparedness. The term of the 243-member Bihar Assembly ends on November 22. The last assembly elections were held in three phases during the COVID-19 pandemic.
