Noida: Residents of Sector-108 were left in shock on Thursday morning after police recovered the mutilated remains of a woman from a drain under the jurisdiction of Sector-39 police station. The body was found without a head and both hands, and was found unclothed, suggesting a brutal attempt to conceal the victim’s identity.
Acting on a tip-off, local police and forensic experts reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The woman’s identity has not yet been established.
In a statement shared on his official X handle, Noida’s Additional DCP confirmed that the body was recovered from the drain and that a panchnama and autopsy are being conducted. Three special teams have been formed to determine who the victim was.
According to sources, a morning walker first spotted the body and alerted the authorities. Initial investigation suggests the woman was murdered elsewhere and her body was dumped in the drain. Police believe her head and hands were severed to prevent identification.
CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being reviewed to trace possible suspects, vehicles, and the route used to transport the body. The forensic team has collected soil and water samples, along with tyre marks and other clues found at the scene, reported IANS.
Alerts have been issued to neighbouring police stations to check missing person reports that might match the victim’s description. The woman is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. Given that the body was found unclothed, investigators are also examining the possibility of sexual assault, though confirmation awaits the post-mortem results.
Senior officers visited the scene and reviewed the progress of the investigation. They expressed confidence that the woman’s identity will soon be confirmed and the culprits brought to justice.
