The projects on display at the Manorama-IBS Yuva Mastermind is testimony to the fact that our scientific temper is on a par with others of the world, writer C Radhakrishnan has said.
He said there was a time when he earnestly wished if some of these were handy for him, years ago.
My father was bed-ridden and I saw the glucose line draining up on the IV line and how blood seeped through the tube and reached the bottle. How I wished there was a valve on the tube, he said.
It was interesting to see how innovation and imagination combine in students and common man as they come up with such solutions, he said.
Lauding the organisers, he said it was a huge effort to bring all of the innovators on one platform.
He said the country was not at the forefront of innovation not because there was a dearth of talent. It was because there was no institutional effort to promote talent and innovation.
Platforms like these are an answer to what we do not have or lack. The student community which visits the event will go back with the feeling that society will take cognizance of their findings, he added.
