New Lokayukta Justice Cyriac Joseph takes oath

Thiruvananthapuram: Justice Cyriac Joseph took oath as the new Lokayukta before Governor P Sathasivam here on Thursday. He is a former justice of the Supreme Court as well as acting chairman of National Human Rights Commission.

Among those who were present at the ceremony were Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala, Minister K Raju, O Rajagopal MLA, Human Rights Commission Chairman Antony Dominic, upa lokayukta A K Basheer, Chief Secretary Tom Jose, DGP Loknath Behera, Cardinal Cleemis, Archbishop Soosaipakiam and retired High Court judges K K Dinesan, G Sasidharan, K R Udayabhanu, M R Hariharan Nair and K P Balachandran.

Justice Cyriac Joseph was the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand and Karnataka High Courts and was also a judge in Kerala and Delhi High Courts.
