Malayala Manorama readership soars again, hits 1.75 crore daily

Malayala Manorama newspaper has added 14.81 lakh more readers to reach a total of 1.75 crore every day, finds the latest Indian Readership Survey (IRS). Manorama is also the largest growing vernacular newspaper in the country.

Manorama also retained its prime position for average per copy readership, i.e., the number of average readers for a copy.

It is also the only vernacular publication apart from Hindi newspapers in the top-five list.

Manorama’s readership growth is larger than all Malayalam publications’ combined. It has more new readers than the next six Malayalam publications combined. The popular daily has also increased its gap with the Malayalam daily in second position by 45 lakh copies.

Two out of three Malayalis read Manorama as per the survey figures.

Manorama has also added 5.76 lakh new readers below 30 years.

The latest numbers are as per the IRS’s first phase for 2019.

The number of people reading newspapers is on the rise in the country, the survey states. There are 1.8 crore more readers in India compared to 2017.
