Archana Kavi has a narrow escape

Narrow escape for actor Archana Kavi, family

Kochi: Mollywood actor Archana Kavi and family had a 'narrow escape' when a concrete piece reportedly of the Kochi Metro's cantilever bridge fell on the windshield of their moving car on Wednesday.

Sharing pictures of the broken windshield and the concrete piece, which broke the glass and fell inside the car, on her social media accounts, Archana requested Kochi Metro Rail and Kerala Police to look into the matter.

The 'Neelathaamara' actor also asked the authorities to compensate the driver of the car.

The caption read: "We had a narrow (providential) escape. A concrete slab fell on our moving car while we were on the way to the airport. I would request @kochimetrorail and @kerala_police to look into the matter and compensate the driver. Also see to it that such things don't happen in future." (sic)

Though the actor tagged Kerala Police and Kochi Metro in her posts, both the official handles have not responded to her tweet or instagram post yet.

Failing bridge is not news for Kochites who found out in September 2018 that their (then) 18-month-old Palarivattom overbridge was unsafe for travel. The private agency, which inspected the bridge, had recommended immediate control of traffic to ensure the security of the people as well as the bridge.

The bridge, built on a budget of Rs 72 crore, was opened to the public in October 2016 and within months its surface started peeling off.
