Palakkad: How would it be if you have someone to greet you onboard the train, and take you to your designated seat and help with the luggage? The Indian Railways is planning to appoint staff, akin to the air hostess aboard the aeroplanes.
It is one of the proposals that the railways plan to implement along with the help of the private investors. As part of privatisation, the Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express would be handed over to the IRCTC. The plan is to run 100 trains in 25 routes. For these trains, special coaches would be made.
Facilities
• A vehicle with an attender to take you to the railway station. The attender would accompany you till the coach.
• Another staff would welcome you onboard the train, akin to the airhostess on aeroplanes. The staff would help you find the seat and put away the luggage safely.
• Free snacks and water would reach you at the seat on trolleys. If the train is inordinately delayed, then one meal would be given free of cost.
• Shopping facility inside the train to buy branded electronic equipment and cosmetic products.
• Semi-sleeper luxury seats. Clean bio-toilets, akin to the ones in planes.
• Rooms to hold party/meetings.
• When you de-board, the staff would bid farewell and take you to the destination.
