Thalappalam: A 26-year-old youth died in a road accident at Kalaketty near Plassanal in Kottayam district on Wednesday night. The deceased, Karun Manohar, was an upcoming actor and assistant director in the Malayalam film industry.

He is the son of Plassanal Alappattu A K Manoharan Nair and Thankamma (Mali). He had worked as an assistant director for the films 'Panchavarnathatha' and 'Ganagandharvan'. He had also acted in 'Ganagandharvan' which was released last September.

The accident happened as the bike he was riding rammed a culvert after he lost control of the vehicle around 10.30 pm. He suffered severe injury to the head. Though he was admitted to a private hospital in Pala, his life could not be saved.

Karun has two brothers: Arun Manohar (Mollywood costume designer) and Kiran Manohar (visual effects programmer).

The funeral was held at 5 pm on Thursday on his house premises.
