Indian Coffee House in Kozhikode shut after flouting lockdown rules

Even as restrictions were eased in the fourth phase of the lockdown, restaurants were given stern warnings to only distribute food parcels from their counters and not allow anyone to dine in. However, an Indian Coffee House in Kozhikode was seen violating this rule on Friday.

In a video shared with Malayala Manorama, over ten people were seen dining in at the restaurant run by a worker co-operative society. Police officials rushed to the spot and ordered its immediate closure.

According to Coffee House officials, the restaurant was running as a canteen by employees of the corporation. Police have registered a case against the restaurant manager and five others who ate there.

In his sunset briefing on COVID on Friday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed that it was in complete violation of the rules and that more details will be sought on the matter.

He urged all to be mindful of the directives issued by the Centre and said that rules were enforced for all our collective welfare. Flouting them will invite severe consequences, Chief minister said.
