Kozhikode: A young man set ablaze a 22-year-old woman here before setting himself on fire at a coastal village in Kozhikode district.
Nandagopan (28) poured petrol on Sindoori, alias Krishnapriya, before setting her on fire and poured the rest of the petrol over his body before setting himself ablaze.
The incident occurred outside the Thikkodi Grama Panchayat Office at 10am on Friday.
Both of them are undergoing treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital with severe burns.
The youth poured the petrol on Krishnapriya in the midst of a conversation.
Krishnapriya is a temporary employee at the panchayat office.
The duo reportedly are acquaintances. The motive of the crime is not known yet.
Krishnapriya is the daughter of Manoj from Thikkodi Kaatuvayal and Nandagopan is the son of Mohan from Valiya Madom locality.
