Member of Parliament John Brittas has said he was elated after the Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu lauded him for his speech made the other day in the Rajya Sabha.
Brittas expressed his 'shock' at the unexpected appreciation via a Facebook post on Saturday.
The Kerala MP had spoken about the 'lack of diversity in Indian judiciary' while RS was considering the Judges Pension Bill that was later cleared.
Brittas has claimed that a day after his speech, Naidu, who is also the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, rang him up. "I was slightly worried to receive his call," wrote Brittas. "Did I make some mistakes, I wondered."
The 55-year-old, who is also a journalist, said he had criticised the suspension of 12 MPs the other day. "But to my surprise, he congratulated and encouraged me," said Brittas.
The MP also shared a video clip, in which the vice president says the speech was 'wonderful'. "I enjoyed it," said Naidu, before adding that he was disappointed that the speech went unreported in the media.
