Kerala Police forms special 'goonda' squads, to monitor drug use among guest workers

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police have launched a special squad to tackle goonda activities in the state.

The decision was made at a special meeting convened by the Director-General of Police, Ani Kanth on Tuesday.

As per the decision, two special squads will be operational in each district. ADGP Manoj Abraham has been appointed as the nodal officer of the initiative.

It is understood that the squad will monitor the allegations of drug usage among guest workers in the state.

The other day at Kizhakambalam in Ernakulam district, a group of guest workers employed at Kitex Group had attacked police officers and set alight a police jeep.
