Malappuram: Senior Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader, PK Abdu Rabb has criticised the state government for double standards with regards to the implementation of COVID protocol.

The former Minister for Education in the Oommen Chandy government was referring to the crowding at Edappal on Saturday during the inauguration of a flyover.

In a Facebook post, Rabb urged the state government to book ministers PA Muhammad Riyas and V Abdurahiman and MLA KT Jaleel who were among the hundreds that thronged the government function.

"During the flyover inauguration, there was four times the number of people that participated in the Waqf Protection Meeting at Pukkiparambu that was organised by Muslim Co-ordination Committee," Rabb wrote in Facebook.

Former minister PK Abdu Rabb shared the picture on Facebook showing crowding during the inauguration of the Edappaly Flyover on Saturday.

"Samastha leader Abdussamad Pookkottur was booked for COVID protocol violation for the Waqf event. So will there be a case against the PWD minister Riyas, Waqf and sports minister Abdurahiman and MLA Jaleel?"

Rabb also said that while the state was insisting on seven-day quarantine for fully vaccinated returnees, even those who received booster doses, "it paraded locals who received their first doses and even unvaccinated ones".

The IUML leader warned the government that if it was targetting the opposition, they will react.
