S Sasi, son of former Kerala CM EMS Namboodiripad, dies at 67

Mumbai: S Sasi, youngest son of late Communist stalwart and former Kerala Chief Minister E M S Namboodiripad, died here on Monday. He was 67.

According to reports, he collapsed at his daughter Aparna's house.

Sasi was the chief accounts manager of the CPM party organ 'Deshabhimani' under the General Manager's office of the newspaper in Thiruvananthapuram. He was in-charge of the accounts section of all the units of 'Deshabhimani' in Kerala.

After Deshabhimani started a unit in Thrissur in 2000, Sasi moved to Thrissur. Sasi lived in New Delhi for a long time with his father was the CPM general secretary.

He is survived by wife K S Girija, former 'Deshabhimani' deputy manager, daughters Anupama (Toshiba, Delhi), Aparna (TCS, Mumbai), sons-in-law A M Jigish (special correspondent of The Hindu, New Delhi) and Rajesh J Varma (mechanical engineer at Godrej, Mumbai).

Dr Malathi, E M Sreedharan and Women's Commission Member E M Radha are his siblings.

The late Arya Antharjanam was his mother.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the death of Sasi.

Pinarayi recalled that Sasi, who followed the great legacy of the simple, committed and principled life of EMS, carried out all the responsibilities given by the party with utmost sincerity.

Sasi, who came to Kerala along with EMS after the latter ended his Delhi stint, did all the tasks entrusted by the party and 'Deshabhimani' with efficiency, Pinarayi recalled.
