Two killed as lorry plunges into 300ft gorge in Adimali

Adimali (Idukki): A lorry driver and a cleaner were killed when their vehicle fell into a gorge near Valara waterfalls here on the Kochi-Danushkodi National Highway.

The incident happened around 8 pm on Monday. The deceased were identified as driver Siji and cleaner Santhosh. Their bodies were recovered on Tuesday morning.

Police suspect that the driver lost control of the Torres lorry, heading to Kothamangalam from Adimali, which plunged into the 300-feet deep gorge.

Highway Police and Forest officials carried out the rescue operations that lasted for hours with the help of locals.
