Thiruvananthapuram: A junior doctor at the Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram was suspended Sunday for misbehaving with bystanders.

The hospital authorities said in a press release that action was taken on Dr Anantha Krishnan, junior resident of the Orthopedic Department in the light of a video clipping that was shared on social media.

In the mobile phone video, the doctor is seen using abusing language at bystanders and even threatening them with physical harm during an argument inside the Emergency Medicine section of the hospital.

"If you take out the camera inside here, I'll break your leg," Anantha Krishnan told a bystander who was recording the incident. He later lowers the mask to reveal his face and says: "This is my face, go do what you can."

"This incident, even though an isolated one, generated a negative image of the institution and has overshadowed the huge efforts taken by the healthcare workers of this institution especially in the background of COVID pandemic," the medical college principal, Dr Sara Varghese said in the release.
