Kochi: A complaint seeking probe into the road accident death of the 42-year-old Saleesh Vettiyattil, the IT expert and short film director who serviced the iPhone of film actor and the eighth accused in the actress attack case Dileep, has been filed with the Angamaly police station.

Saleesh's brother Shivadas Vettiyattil, with the consent of the deceased's wife and child, gave the complaint to the Angamaly police. It is learnt that the complaint has been referred to the Crime Branch by the Angamaly police.

Film directors Baiju Kottarakkara, and Balachandrakumar, whose revelation opened up a conspiracy case against Dileep, consistently alleged through the media in recent days that Saleesh's death was unnatural and hence, be probed.

A case of accidental death was earlier registered by the Angamaly police under the assumption that Saleesh slept while driving his car. The police have now sought legal advice for taking up reinvestigation in the case in which the local police had already given a closure report in the court saying that the death happened due to an accident.

Dileep's iPhone was serviced at a mobile phone centre in Ernakulam where Saleesh had worked. It is suspected Saleesh died in the accident a day after the mobile repair. He died while the car he was driving crashed into the divider of the road while he was on his way back home after purchasing items for "Onam Sadya".

The accident occurred on the eve of Thiruvonam.

The police did not suspect anything fishy though the eye witnesses had pointed out then that Saleesh suddenly turned the steering and lost control over his vehicle while trying to avoid collision with another speeding vehicle. Even his relatives did not raise any doubt over the death then.

The demand for inquiry into the accident by the relatives and others cropped up after those from the film field expressed doubt over the death in the context of the registration of case against Dileep and others for allegedly conspiring to kill the police officers probing the actress attack case.

The police will soon record the statement of Saleesh's relatives and colleagues.
