Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has isolated the Left Democratic Front (LDF) MLA KT Jaleel over his recent comments on the Lokayukta.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Friday that the party does not share the views of Jaleel on the Lokayukta that had recently caused a stir.

The statement from the politburo member comes as a huge blow to Jaleel who had recently taken to social media to level serious allegations against the incumbent Lokayukta.

A Lokayukta verdict had found Jaleel guilty of nepotism resulting in his resignation from ministership, in the first Pinarayi Vijayan government, in April 2021.

However, the CPM has clarified that it wishes to not partake in the mudslinging initiated by Jaleel.

"KT Jaleel voiced his opinion not that of CPM," Kodiyeri told media persons at the AKG Centre here on Friday. "The CPM has at no juncture accused the Lokayukta. Even when a verdict against KT Jaleel came, CPM did not make a statement against Lokayukta."

Kodiyeri even added that the CPM had not accepted Jaleel into its fold due to 'such opinions'.

"He is not a party member. Someone part of the LDF might have opinions different from that of CPM.

"It is because he has such opinions is why the party has kept him as an independent. Otherwise, the party would have given him membership long back. He contested as an independent even recently," said Kodiyeri.
