Bomb that killed youth at a wedding house in Kannur was allegedly thrown by a friend

Kannur: A youngster was killed in a bomb attack outside a wedding house at Thottada here on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Jishnu (26), a native of Eachur here, who was a guest at the wedding.

According to the latest reports, two bombs were hurled. While the first one did not explode, the second blasted on Jishnu's head killing him on the spot.

At least two others were injured in the attack.

It has also emerged that the attack was done by a group of men from Eachur, who were with Jishnu.

Earlier, it was believed that the attack was carried out by a rival group that had clashed with Jishnu and friends on the eve of the wedding allegedly over playing songs on loudspeaker at the venue.

The attack had taken place by 2.30 pm.

Locals have claimed that the assailants who hurled the bomb had arrived in a van.

Raveendran, an eye witness told Manorama News that the assailants who fled the scene had red ribbons tied around their heads.

It is alleged that a heavy explosive was used in the attack as the victim's body parts were scattered.

The body was removed from the scene after nearly two hours following a protest.
