Forest watcher injured in wild buffalo attack at Marayoor

Marayoor: A 55-year-old forest watcher suffered serious injuries in a wild buffalo attack at Mangalampara area of Pallanad, near here, in Kerala's Idukki district.

The forest watcher was identified as Gandhi of the Marayur Oonchampara tribal hamlet. He came under attack as he was trying to chase the wild animal back in to the forest. He suffered serious injuries to his hand and back. After providing first-aid at the Marayur community health centre, he was shifted to the Adimali taluk hospital for further treatment.

A Pallanad native, Mariyappan, was also injured in a wild buffalo attack at the farm land the other day. In an earlier instance, Mangalampara native Durairaj was killed in a wild buffalo attack on January 24.

The latest attack happened as the forest personnel and local people arrived at Mangalampara to chase away the wild animal that had attacked Mariyappan.
