Wild encounter: 2 tigers chase jeep near Munnar

Munnar: A Mankulam native and four labourers got the fright of their lives as two tigers chased their jeep near here.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening. Mankulam native Jojo, who carries out repair works on the Edamalakudy Road on a contract basis, and four labourers were travelling in the jeep.

The five people were on their way to Edamalakudy when the two tigers pounced on to the road from the forest at the Valiyathode area and started chasing the jeep. This is where the concrete road ends, about half-a-kilometre into the forest from the Pulumedu area.

The tigers chased the jeep for around 20m but returned to the forest as the vehicle sped away. Jojo and the others said that they have spotted a tiger in the area earlier too.
