Alappuzha: Three morning walkers were killed as a lorry ran over them at Panayil in Nooranad in Alappuzha district.

The dead are: Raju Mathew (60), Vikraman Nair (66) and Ramachandran Nair.

Vikraman Nair died at the Believers Church Medical College Hospital, Tiruvalla.

One person is battling for life with grave injuries at the hospital.

All four were walking together as part of their daily morning routine when the accident occurred at dawn on a narrow road.

Reports say a Taurus lorry struck them at around 6 am. The vehicle sped past after the accident.

Lorry driver killed in Kollam

A lorry driver was killed in an accident at Kallumthazhathu on the Kollam Bypass.  

Sunil Kumar, a native of Mylakaadu in Kollam, was killed when his lorry collided with a tipper at 5am on Thursday.

The driver of the tipper was critically injured. 

The drivers were extracted from their vehicles by prying open the driver cabins. It is suspected one of the drivers would have fallen asleep, leading to the collision.
