Blind school employee arrested for misbehaving with minor student

Two rape victims die in Haryana after four men force them to consume insecticide

Thodupuzha: A 36-year-old employee of the School for the Blind at Kudayathoor was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a minor student.

Identifying the accused as Chennattu Rajesh of Pothanikkad, police said he abused the girl during 2016-20. The student is now pursuing Plus Two.

Rajesh was arrested based on a complaint the Federation of the Blind authorities had lodged with the state police chief.

The girl's friend had informed the school authorities about Rajesh's misbehaviour in January. The school did not approach the police after the girl and her parents denied any such incident.

After the DGP's office forwarded the complaint by the Federation of the Blind to Thodupuzha DySP, Rajesh was summoned to Kanjar police station on Wednesday. He was arrested after a team led by station house officer Soljimon recorded the girl's statement.

The accused was produced before a court and remanded in custody.
