Vehicle insurance fraud: 26 including 5 Kerala cops indicted

The Crime Branch has indicted 26 persons, including five policemen, in a vehicle insurance fraud case.

The Crime Branch had probed five vehicle accident cases from 2015 that were found to have been fake.

It was reported earlier that insurance fraud was worth crores of rupees.

A probe report has been submitted before a court. As per the report, all five cases were fabricated by the police officers who were then part of the City Traffic Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram.

Four of those officers have retired. In all the cases, an advocate had appeared. He along with his associate and an agent have also been indicted.

One scooter was involved in all accidents as per the insurance claims. The owner of the scooter and his brothers, who were listed as injured in the accident, have also been indicted in the case.
