Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst widespread protest against the laying of boundary stones for the proposed SilverLine project, K-Rail Limited has absolved itself of taking the responsibility for laying the survey stones. It has put the onus on the revenue department.
According to the company, the K-Rail Board has only decided to conduct a social impact study.
K-Rail officials point out that the Revenue Department, which is in charge of fixing boundaries as per the Kerala Survey and Boundaries Act, might have taken the decision to put survey stone.
However, the Act doesn't say that the concrete stones should be erected for the survey. Only a marking is needed. But, big yellow-coloured stones with the inscription "K-Rail" were laid.
K-Rail Limited is maintaining that it has neither discussed nor given any direction about the manner in which markings are to be made as part of the survey.
Apart from the Managing Director, the K-Rail Board has two directors and four part-time directors. Of this, one director and two part-time directors are nominees of the Union Railway Ministry.
