Kannur: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has promised proper compensation for people whose land is acquired for developmental projects. “The state government is firm on ensuring justice for people who lose their land and property while implementing basic infrastructural projects,” he said at the ongoing 23rd Party Congress of the CPM at Kannur in Kerala.
“Economic growth, social justice and environmental protection will also be ensured while large projects are taken up,” he said, referring to the SilverLine semi-high speed rail project of his government.
“CPM workers will conduct house-to-house visits in areas through which SilverLine is proposed in order to spread this message,” he added.
Pinarayi also claimed that Kerala had achieved the top rank in the human development index thanks to the initiatives implemented by Left Democratic Front governments since the one led by E K Nayanar in 1980.
“The LDF government is now focusing on total poverty alleviation, food security, dwellings for homeless people, clean environment, Internet connections for all, ease of government services, employment generation by rejuvenating agriculture and promotion of small and medium industries,” the chief minister said.
