Kollam: A political blame-game has commenced over the murder of a 39-year-old man during a temple festival at Kunnikode last night.

The murdered youth, Manoj, was a functionary of the Kerala Congress (B). The party has already termed it a political murder and blamed the Congress.

Manoj was killed by Congress activists, K B Ganeshkumar, MLA, claimed.

However, Congress refuted the charge by demanding to inquire into the criminal background of the murdered youth.

The killers should be arrested immediately after a proper investigation, demanded Congress leader Jyotikumar Chamakala.

Manoj was found lying on the road with his fingers severed and a gash on his throat in the violence that erupted during the festival at the Siva Temple in Kokkadu.

Though he was rushed to hospital, he succumbed soon.

He was the president of the Chakkuvarackal block unit of the Kerala Congress (B).
