Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government's sudden decision to remove Dr Ciza Thomas as the senior joint director of Technical Education has suffered an instant setback.

The State Administrative Tribunal (KAT) has ordered that Dr Ciza, who is the current VC-in-charge of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technoclogical University, should be given an appropriate appointment in Thiruvananthapuram itself.

The Tribunal has ordered this taking into consideration the facts that she would retire from service on March 31.

The Government removed Dr Ciza without giving her any fresh appointment. It is seen as a sequel to the ongoing standoff between the State Government and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan over the appointment of VCs to state universities.
