A fast-track POCSO court in Idukki on Saturday sentenced Sunilkumar (50) to death for killing a seven-year-old, and raping his sister. The minor was the son of a couple from Anachal in Idukki.

The incident is suspected to be the fallout of a family dispute that transpired on October 3, 2021.

Sunilkumar, also known as Shaan, is married to the sister of the slain minor's mother.

On the day of the incident, Sunilkumar went to his mother-in-law's and attacked her with a hammer before killing the minor, who was at the time present there, by striking his head with a hammer.

He then went to his sister-in-law's, attacked her, and raped her daughter. 

The court has sentenced him to death for the murder and imprisonment till death for the POCSO charges.
