Malappuram man sentenced to 123 years for sexually abusing two minor daughters

Malappuram: The Manjeri Fast Track Special POCSO Court here sentenced a man to 123 years for sexually abusing his two minor daughters.

Judge AM Ashraf, who pronounced the verdict, has also imposed a fine of Rs 7 lakh. The survivors were aged 12 and 11 at the time of the abuse.  

The court learned that the man repeatedly molested his elder daughter when his wife wasn't home and attempted to sexually abuse the younger one.

The younger girl reported the incident to her mother, an Anganwadi teacher, who alerted other teachers and the Edavanna Police.

The police subsequently charged the father under Section 5(n) of the POCSO Act (Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences), which pertains to aggravated penetrative sexual assault by a parent on a minor. Additional charges under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act were also levelled against the man.

The fine of Rs 7 lakhs should be used to ensure the care and security of the children, the court directed. The couple has five children. The trial of the case was completed in one-and-a-half years, with the accused being held in judicial custody throughout the process.
