The constituency became a hotspot for political activity, marked by controversies such as party-switching, allegations of black money, and suspicions of bogus voting. National and state leaders, including prominent figures from all major alliances, visited Palakkad to campaign for their respective candidates. Flags, balloons, and crackers created a festive atmosphere as the LDF, UDF, and BJP anticipated a thumping victory.
The campaign reached its peak on the final day, with all parties holding massive roadshows in Palakkad. Hundreds of supporters cheered for their respective candidates, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the constituency.
V K Sreekandan MP accompanied UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil during his roadshow, which was also joined by popular comedian and actor Ramesh Pisharody and former BJP spokesperson Sandeep Varier, who is now with the Congress. Meanwhile, Minister M B Rajesh joined LDF candidate Dr P Sarin in kalashakottu, adding fervour to the Left camp’s final push.

Palakkad will go to the polls on November 20 after a day of silent campaign on Tuesday. The byelection results will be declared on November 23. In the 2021 state elections, E Sreedharan, the BJP candidate, lost to Shafi Parambil by just 3,859 votes.
