Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed Rajendra Arlekar, the newly appointed Kerala Governor, at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Wednesday. Arlekar, who succeeded Arif Mohammed Khan, was greeted by the Chief Minister, Kerala Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer, and ministers, including K Rajan and Kadannappalli Ramachandran.
Arif Mohammed Khan, who was appointed as the Governor of Bihar, reached the state on Wednesday and met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other leaders. Pinarayi Vijayan had not posted a farewell message for Khan on any of his social media handles. As per reports, in an unceremonious farewell event conducted for Khan, neither the CM nor any of his Cabinet colleagues turned up to see him off.
The ruling CPM had a strained relationship with Khan over various issues. They also recently expressed hope that the new governor would work constitutionally and collaborate with the state government. It also accused Khan of engaging in "unconstitutional actions to implement the agenda of the Sangh Parivar."
