The district-level hearing of complaints on the delimitation of electoral wards will be held from January 16 to February 22. The hearing will begin in Pathanamthitta, where 546 plaints have been received.
The delimitation commission has received a total of 16,042 complaints on ward delimitation across districts.  The highest number of complaints was received in Malappuram (2,840), followed by Thiruvananthapuram (2,002).

The draft notification on the delimitation of wards was published on November 18, 2024, for 941 gram panchayats, 87 municipalities and six corporations. The complaints were received till December 4. The commission and the district election officer will directly hear the complaints.

According to the notification issued by the state government before the delimitation exercise, 1,375 wards have been added across 941 panchayats, raising the total number of wards from 15,962 to 17,337. The number of wards across the 152 block panchayats will rise from 2,080 to 2,267, while district panchayats will have 15 new divisions. Thiruvananthapuram district panchayat will gain two more divisions, with other districts adding one division each.
