At least 28 injured as tourist bus carrying college students overturns in Pathanamthitta

Pathanamthitta: At least 28 people were injured after a tourist bus carrying students from Kollam overturned in Pathanamthitta on Thursday morning. The accident occurred around 6:15 am at Kallukuzhy, Kadampanad, near Adoor, along the Adoor-Kumily State Highway (SH 13).
According to Kadampanad panchayat vice president Radhakrishnan S, the passengers were B Ed students from Fathima Memorial Training College, Kollam, en route to Vagamon for a trip. The vehicle (KL 31 K 0580) also cracked down an electric pole on the side of the road.
"The bus was carrying at least 50 people. The injured were rushed to the Government General Hospital, Adoor," Radhakrishnan told Onmanorama, adding that Kallukuzhy Junction is known to be accident-prone.
"The students were travelling in two buses, one of which met with the accident. Witnesses reported that the bus was in poor condition, with excessively worn-out tyres lacking grip," Radhakrishnan added.
