The final rites of Gopan were conducted at Neyyattinkara on Friday. The burial ceremony included a special pooja and procession. A new shrine, ‘Rishipeetham,’ was built in the same location where the previous tomb had been demolished, within the family’s courtyard.

Gopan’s body was brought home in a ceremonial procession from a private hospital before being interred at the site. The family, along with organisations such as the Hindu Aikya Vedi and Vaikunda Swamy Dharma Pracharna Sabha (VSDP), performed the rituals during the burial. To accommodate the expected crowd, preparations, including the construction of a pandal in front of the house, were made.

Meanwhile, Gopan's son, Sanandan, apologised for certain remarks made against a certain community, stating they were made emotionally. He also assured full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.

The burial of Gopan by his children sparked controversy, leading to the exhumation of the body. On the same day, authorities dismantled the tomb. Police have stated that the cause of death remains unclear, pending test results of internal organs. A team of doctors who conducted the post-mortem indicated no visible injuries or external harm and noted that there is no initial suspicion of foul play. However, the exact time and cause of death remain uncertain.

Preliminary observations noted blackened marks on the head and possible traces of ash in the lungs, suggesting further analysis is required. It will take several days to receive the results of the toxicology and other forensic tests.

A joint team led by Sub-Collector and RDO OV Alfred exhumed the body on Thursday morning, completing the procedure within three hours. The body, covered in a layer of soot and partially hidden with ceremonial offerings, was found in a seated position inside the tomb. Family members cooperated with the process, which followed the controversial claim made on the 10th that Gopan had attained "Samadhi."
