Kozhikode: Police arrested a teenage gang for stealing bikes on Wednesday. The gang stole the bikes during the recently concluded Beypore International Water Fest. The police said that the four-member group stole the bikes intending to own one for each. However, only one bike was in working condition, while the other three were abandoned due to mechanical issues.

The gang members were presented before the Juvenile Court in Kozhikode and released later under adult supervision bonds. The Feroke Crime Squad and Beypore police arrested the group from Pallikkal Bazar, Kondotty, in Malappuram, where one of the members resides with his family.

Police received four complaints of missing bikes during the Beypore Fest on January 5. While three bikes were recovered abandoned in different locations, CCTV footage revealed that the gang had stolen the bikes. The visuals also indicated that one bike had been ridden towards Malappuram.

By circulating the CCTV visuals in WhatsApp groups within the Malappuram district, the police received information about the stolen bike’s presence in Pallikkal Bazar. Acting on this lead, the investigation team apprehended the gang.
