A burglary attempt in Koyilandi took an unexpected turn when the suspect fell into a well within a residential compound.
A serial offender, known as ‘Dollar Ani’, with over 50 theft cases, has been arrested for a major burglary.
Police said the accused is also involved in three other theft cases registered at Kallikode Police Station in Palakkad and Chithode Police Station in Erode, Tamil Nadu.

Two youths, including a minor, were arrested for a stationery shop break-in, stealing goods worth ₹3,500. They were identified via CCTV and recovered items.
The incident occurred when a thief began preparing for burglary in the house of a Pathanapuram resident and his daughter, who was in the Gulf region, watched it through the home’s CCTV feed on her phone.
The investigation began after a complaint from a Thrissur district youth who lost ₹65,000 after his scooter's compartment was found open at an exam centre.
Initial investigations yielded little evidence. The absence of CCTV cameras in the immediate area and the lack of forensic clues made the probe difficult.
Preliminary indications suggest that the suspect boarded a bus towards the Muvattupuzha side.
The Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police apprehended three suspects from Bihar after reviewing CCTV footage.
