With people-friendly conditions at government healthcare centres in the state still remaining a distant dream, all one can do is join in the clamour seeking better facilities and service.

One such movement is the rising strong demand for a cloakroom at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital's emergency department to store essential items, including bags, for those arriving there for treatment and their care givers.

Bags, helmets, and similar items are not allowed inside the Emergency Department. Unaware of this rule, people arriving at the hospital place their belongings outside the Emergency Department before entering.

There are widespread complaints of valuables being lost when they return. There is also a demand for providing facilities for clean drinking water.
