Thrissur: A 25-year-old man, Sanjay, set his house on fire in a drug-induced haze late Thursday in Varavoor, Thrissur. After a heated argument with his mother, Tara (47), he opened a gas cylinder and set the house ablaze.

As the fire quickly spread, ward members alerted the authorities. The Wadakkanchery Fire and Rescue Department, along with the police and locals, worked together to extinguish the flames.

Due to road inaccessibility, firefighters reached the house on two-wheelers. The roof of the sheet-covered house was destroyed, along with household appliances and important documents, police said.
