Mananthavady/Wayanad: Radha (48), the tribal woman mauled to death by a tiger at Pancharakolly, Wayanad, is the aunt of Indian cricketer Minnu Mani. Expressing her grief, Mani shared an emotional note on social media, calling the incident shocking and deeply distressing. "This news is quite shocking; I just found out about it. The victim of the tiger attack in Pancharakolly is my uncle’s wife," she wrote.
Radha, a resident of Meenmutti, was attacked on Friday morning while harvesting coffee beans. Her death has triggered widespread protests in the area, pushing the government to announce that the tiger will be shot if efforts to capture it fail.
In her note, Mani added, "I hope the aggressive tiger is caught soon, ensuring the safety of the people and their property in the region."
Forest Minister AK Saseendran confirmed the action plan, emphasising that human safety is the top priority. Chief Wildlife Warden Pramod G Krishnan stated that field-level officers have been instructed to locate and capture the tiger and, if necessary, take lethal action as per protocol. "An order will be issued later in compliance with the protocol. Human safety is given priority now," he said.
