Palakkad: An elephant attacked a man while he was trying to drive the animal away from a residential area in Walayar. The injured, Vijayan from Vadyar Chal, suffered injuries to his leg and waist. He is currently receiving treatment at the Palakkad District Hospital.

The Forest Department revealed in its preliminary report that Vijayan and others were fleeing when the elephant charged at them. Vijayan fell after being struck by the animal.

Officials also noted that wild elephants had entered this area seven times in the last 15 days, raising concerns among residents.
