Mananthavady: The 'dawn-to-dusk' hartal called by the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Mananthavady municipality limits to protest the killing of Meenmuttiveettil Radha (45), a native of Tharatt near Pancharakolly, in a tiger attack on Friday, concluded peacefully. Shops and other business establishments remained closed, while KSRTC and private buses operated only long-route services from the Mananthavady depot.

Hartal supporters declared that the public would not be forced to shut down shops. UDF leaders claimed that people voluntarily supported the hartal. Essential services, including newspaper distribution, hospitals, and milk supply, were unaffected.
