Thrissur: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday visited Guruvayur Temple after bad weather disrupted his initial travel plans. His helicopter, which took off from Kochi in the morning, was unable to land in Guruvayur due to heavy rain and had to return, officials said.

He later reached Guruvayur after attending a scheduled programme in Kochi.

Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife, Dr Sudesh Dhankhar, was welcomed at the Sreekrishna College helipad by local leaders, including MLA Murali Perunelli, District Collector Arjun Pandyan, City Police Commissioner R Ilango, and Kandanassery panchayat president Mini Jayan.

The vice president arrived at the temple at 1.35 pm, offered prayers, and departed at 1.48 pm, officials said. He left Guruvayur for Kochi at 2.30 pm, they added.
