Kundara police, probing the deaths of a Malayali woman and her daughter in Sharjah, have charged her husband, sister-in-law, and father-in-law as accused in the case.

Vipanchika Mani (33) killed her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Vybhavi, and took her own life in Al Nahda in Sharjah on July 8.

Nidheesh, Neethu Beni and their father have been charged with Section 85 (cruelty by husband or his relatives) and Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

Vipanchika's suicide note, which appeared on her Facebook profile, details serious allegations of physical and emotional abuse. She said that Nidheesh’s family used to insult her by saying that the wedding was not conducted on a grand scale, that she did not have a house or money, and that she lived by begging.
