Thiruvananthapuram: A ward member of the Vakkom panchayat and his mother were found dead by suicide at their residence. The deceased were identified as Valsala (71) and her son Arun (42), residents of Nediyavila house in Vakkom. Their bodies were found hanging in the shed behind their house.

Arun was the elected member from eighth ward of the Vakkom panchayat. Before taking the extreme step, he reportedly sent a suicide note via WhatsApp to his friends.
